We do lots of strange things online and maybe tasting a beer virtually might be the strangest (legal one anyway). That’s right the Beer Bloggers conference is scheduling a tasting online. What does that mean? Well read and find out….

First-Ever “Virtual Colorado Beer Tasting” Scheduled Beer Drinkers Invited to Participate on September 9

Boulder, Colorado – The first-ever Virtual Colorado Beer Tasting will take place at 7:30 PM Mountain Time on Thursday, September 9th. Beer drinkers across the state and the country are invited to purchase their favorite Colorado beers, open them in a resounding online chorus at exactly 7:30 PM, and write their thoughts via Facebook, Twitter, and the internet.

The virtual tasting is organized by Zephyr Adventures, planner of the upcoming Beer Bloggers Conference scheduled for November 5-7 in Boulder. “Our goal is to raise awareness of the conference and also of the many great Colorado beers”, explains Allan Wright, Boulder resident and president of Zephyr Adventures.

In a “virtual tasting”, there is no central meeting place and no one to pour your beer. Instead, participants will purchase in advance whichever Colorado beers they would like to try, open them at the 7:30 PM starting time, and record their thoughts via Twitter, Facebook, or on the Beer Bloggers Conference website. Details can be found on the Colorado tab of the website.

“The goal is to not just drink the beer but to taste it and then evaluate it”, says Wright. “We want people to move from imbibing to tasting – and perhaps find a new favorite beer along the way.”

Eight Colorado craft breweries are sponsoring the event including Asher Brewing, Breckenridge Brewery, Colorado Native, Great Divide, Left Hand Brewing Company, Odell Brewing Company, Oskar Blues, and Upslope. However, participants can purchase any Colorado beers to participate. According to the Colorado Brewers Guild, Colorado has 100 craft breweries located throughout the state
